We grow two types of turf at our farms, Kentucky Blue Grass and Turf Type Tall Fescue. Here are some helpful tips to aid you in selecting what will work best for your site.
Kentucky Blue Grass
Kentucky Blue Grass
Forms a lush, dense, and durable lawn
Natural spreading habit that easily fills-in bare spots
Prefers full sun but will tolerate some light shade
Can go dormant and turn brown during hot and dry summer months
Requires more frequent watering, mowing, and fertilizing than Fescues
Tall Fescue Sod
Tall Type Fescue
Valued for its beauty and adaptability to a wide range of climates and its tolerances for cold, heat, drought and shade.
Requires less water, fertilizer and mowing than Kentucky Blue Grass
Grows in clumps, doesn’t spread and self-heal like Kentucky Blue Grass, bare patches have to be reseeded.
